1. Even wear
Uniform wear refers to the overall wear of the conveyor belt due to contact with parts such as rollers and idlers during operation. This kind of wear is normal, but if the wear is excessive, it may mean that there is a problem with the material or design of the conveyor belt.
Judgment method
Appearance inspection: Walk from one end to the other along the running direction of the conveyor belt, and carefully check whether there are obvious signs of wear on the surface of the conveyor belt, such as exposed fibers, reduced surface smoothness, cracks or damage.
Thickness measurement: Use a professional caliper or ultrasonic thickness gauge to measure the thickness of the conveyor belt surface. Select multiple measurement points at different positions of the conveyor belt (such as the head, middle, and tail) for measurement, and record the measurement data. Compare the measured thickness data with the original thickness specification of the conveyor belt.
2. Uneven wear
Uneven wear refers to local or irregular wear of the conveyor belt during operation. This wear may be caused by insufficient tension, improper roller installation, uneven material distribution, or inflexible roller operation.
Judgment method
Appearance inspection: Observe whether the conveyor belt has local wear marks, such as edge wear, rubber wear, missing or exposed internal fibers and wire skeletons.
Touch inspection: Touch the surface and edge of the conveyor belt with your hand to feel whether it is uneven, rough or thin. The degree of wear can be intuitively felt by touch.
Width measurement: Use a tape measure or a special width measuring tool to measure the width of the conveyor belt. Measure at multiple locations to ensure the accuracy of the measurement results. Compare the measured width data with the original width specifications of the conveyor belt.
3. Determine whether the wear is uniform
Observe the wear distribution: If the wear marks of the conveyor belt are evenly distributed on the entire surface or edge, it means uniform wear; if the wear is concentrated in certain specific areas, such as a certain section or a certain side, it means uneven wear.
Check the tension: Uneven wear may be related to the tension of the conveyor belt. If the tension is uneven, the conveyor belt will deviate from the center during operation, causing local wear.
Check the rollers and drums: The installation position and operation of the rollers and drums will also affect the uniformity of wear. If the rollers are not installed flat or the rollers are not flexible, the conveyor belt may be unevenly stressed locally, resulting in uneven wear.
4. Treatment suggestions
Uniform wear: If the wear is within the normal range, the service life of the conveyor belt can be extended through regular cleaning and maintenance. However, if the wear is excessive, you may need to consider replacing the conveyor belt.
Uneven wear: Related faults need to be checked and repaired in a timely manner. For example, adjust the tension of the conveyor belt, repair or replace the rollers and rollers, adjust the material distribution, etc.
