1. Misaligned pulleys
Symptoms: The axes of the two pulleys are not parallel or the angle is off, causing the timing belt to run off-center and wear on one side.
Solution: Use a laser alignment instrument to ensure that the centers of the two pulleys are coaxial and the surfaces are parallel, with the deviation controlled within ≤0.1 mm/m.
2. Improper tension
Symptoms: Too tight tension accelerates belt fatigue, while too loose tension causes tooth skipping or slippage.
Solution: Adjust according to the "deflection method," with a center deflection of approximately 5–8 mm/1000 mm being ideal.
3. Prying or forced installation
Symptoms: Belt deformation and edge scraping.
Solution: Shorten the center distance before installing the belt; never pry.
4. Foreign object trapped
Symptoms: Particles become trapped between the belt teeth and the pulley grooves, causing abnormal wear. Solutions: Clean the belt teeth and pulley grooves before each shift, and add guide strips if necessary.
5. Incompatible Ambient Temperature
Symptoms: High temperatures cause the belt to soften, while low temperatures cause it to become brittle.
Solutions: The operating temperature of conventional rubber synchronous belts should not exceed 60°C, and the upper limit for PU synchronous belts is approximately 85°C.
