What are the key points of conveyor belt maintenance?

Jul 18, 2025

1. Regular inspection
Appearance inspection: Regularly check the surface of the conveyor belt for signs of wear, tear, deformation or damage. Pay special attention to the edges and joints.
Check the supporting structure: Check whether the supporting structure of the conveyor belt (such as rollers, brackets) is loose or damaged to ensure its stability.
Check the drive device: Check the operating status of the motor, reducer and drive roller to ensure that there is no abnormal noise or vibration.
Check the tensioning device: Ensure that the tensioning device of the conveyor belt works normally and the conveyor belt tension is moderate to avoid being too loose or too tight.
2. Cleaning and maintenance
Clean the conveyor belt: Regularly clean the dust, dirt and residual materials on the surface of the conveyor belt to prevent the accumulation of materials from causing the conveyor belt to slip or damage.
Clean the rollers and drums: Clean the debris on the rollers and drums to ensure that they rotate flexibly and reduce wear.
Clean the drive device: Clean the dust and oil on the drive devices such as the motor and reducer to maintain good heat dissipation conditions.
3. Lubrication and maintenance
Lubricate the drive device: regularly lubricate the motor, reducer, bearings and other components to ensure their normal operation and reduce wear.
Lubricate the rollers: regularly lubricate the rollers to ensure their flexible rotation and extend their service life.
4. Adjustment and calibration
Adjust the tension: regularly adjust the tension according to the use of the conveyor belt to ensure that the conveyor belt runs smoothly and avoid slipping or excessive wear.
Calibrate deviation: if the conveyor belt is found to be deviated, adjust the position of the rollers or drive device in time to ensure that the conveyor belt runs in the center.
Adjust the speed: check the frequency converter or speed regulating device to ensure that the conveyor belt running speed meets the process requirements.
5. Replace damaged parts
Replace worn parts: replace worn conveyor belts, rollers, drums and other parts in time to avoid equipment downtime due to component damage.
Replace aging parts: regularly check electrical components such as wires and cables, and replace aging or damaged components in time to ensure the safe operation of the electrical system.
6. Environmental control
Control temperature and humidity: Ensure that the temperature and humidity of the conveyor belt operating environment are within the appropriate range to avoid aging or damage to the conveyor belt due to environmental factors.
Prevent chemical corrosion: If the conveyor belt is used to transport chemicals, ensure that its material can resist chemical corrosion and regularly check for chemical leakage.
7. Safe operation
Comply with operating procedures: Strictly follow the operating procedures of the equipment to avoid damage to the equipment due to overload or improper operation.
Safety protection: Ensure that the safety protection devices of the equipment (such as protective covers, emergency stop buttons) are in good condition to ensure the safety of operators.
8. Recording and analysis
Maintenance records: Establish equipment maintenance records, and record in detail the content, time, replaced parts and other information of each maintenance to facilitate tracking of the operating status of the equipment.
Fault analysis: Analyze the faults of the equipment, find out the causes and take measures to prevent them from happening again.
