What factors affect the replacement time of PVC conveyor belts?

Oct 29, 2025

1. Materials and Manufacturing Process
Material Grade: Ordinary PVC belts have a lifespan of approximately 1-2 years, while models enhanced with anti-aging agents or steel wire rope cores can last 3-5 years.
Jointing Process: Hot vulcanized joints are more durable than mechanical connections, extending the service life by more than 30%.
2. Operating Environment
Temperature: Prolonged exposure to temperatures exceeding 80℃ accelerates aging, while temperatures below -10℃ can cause brittleness and cracking. High-temperature resistant models (such as T3 type) can withstand environments up to 150℃.
Corrosiveness: Acidic, alkaline, or oily environments can increase the expansion rate of PVC belts by 15%, requiring the selection of corrosion-resistant materials such as fluoroplastic sheathing.
3. Load and Maintenance
Load Intensity: Overloading accelerates wear by three times; it is recommended to gradually increase the load and regularly check the tension.
Cleaning Frequency: Dust accumulation exacerbates friction; the belt surface should be cleaned weekly, avoiding the use of hard brushes or corrosive cleaning agents.
4. Mechanical Factors
Tension: Tension exceeding the standard by 10% can shorten the lifespan by 30%-50%; a tension meter should be used for calibration.
Roller Parallelism: An axis deviation of 0.2mm/m can lead to a three-fold increase in edge wear.
