How to determine if a PVC timing belt needs replacement?

Dec 12, 2025

Visual Inspection
1. Surface Wear: If obvious grooves, cracks, or edge tears appear, replace immediately.

2. Deformation/Hardening: If it does not spring back after being pressed or the surface is whitish and shiny, it indicates material aging.

Thickness and Elasticity
1. Thickness Reduction: If it is less than 30% of the original standard (e.g., a 30mm belt is less than 21mm), it needs to be replaced.

2. Elasticity Test: If it cannot return to its original shape after placing a heavy object, it indicates performance degradation.

Operating Status
1. Abnormal Noise: A harsh noise or frequent deviation during operation may indicate internal structural damage.

2. Slippage/Loosening: Insufficient tension leads to power transmission failure; adjustment or replacement is required.

Cleaning Inspection
1. Cracks/Wear: If cracks or severe wear are found during cleaning, replace immediately.
