How to Install and Maintain PVC Conveyor Belts?

Oct 15, 2025

I. Installation Process
1. Preliminary Preparation
Check the compatibility of the conveyor belt and conveyor specifications, clean the frame of debris, and ensure a clean installation environment.
Cut the PVC belt using a special cutter or saw blade. The cut should be straight and free of burrs. Sand the joint and clean off any debris.
2. Connection Methods
Hot-melt connection: After aligning the interfaces, heat evenly (using a heat gun), quickly join them after melting, and allow to cool to form a strong bond.
Adhesive bonding: Apply special PVC adhesive to the joint, rotate and insert to the marked depth and hold for 30 seconds to cure.
3. Tensioning and Fixing
Adjust the tensioning device to the appropriate tension, avoiding excessive tension that causes wear or insufficient tension that causes slippage.
Install pipe clamps every 1.5 meters on straight sections, use matching elbows at corners, and install protective sleeves at wall penetrations.
II. Maintenance Points
1. Daily Inspection
After shutdown, check whether the belt is running off-center or jamming, whether the joints are flat, and whether the idler rollers rotate smoothly.
Clean large pieces of material and dust from the belt surface, avoiding the use of hard brushes or corrosive cleaning agents.
2. Regular Maintenance
Conduct a comprehensive inspection every 2-4 hours, focusing on the reducer temperature, the state of the tensioning device, and the wear of the belt.
Stubborn stains can be wiped with a special PVC cleaner. After rinsing, allow to dry completely.
3. Handling Special Scenarios
Anti-freezing measures: In winter, prevent low-temperature embrittlement; loosen the conveyor belt when not in use.
High-temperature environment: Long-term exposure to temperatures exceeding 60°C will accelerate aging; choose a high-temperature resistant model.
III. Troubleshooting Common Problems
Off-center adjustment: Fine-tune the position of the idler rollers (1.5-6 meters before the offset point), prioritizing adjustment of the contact side idler rollers.
Slippage treatment: Re-tension or replace the worn belt, ensuring the contact surface between the roller and the belt is clean.
