How to Prevent Conveyor Belt Slipping

Oct 09, 2025

1. Causes of Conveyor Belt Slipping

Belt elongation:
When the belt stretches over time-especially narrow belts-insufficient tension adjustment can easily cause slipping.

Backside fabric wear:
The longer the belt operates, the more the backside wears out, reducing grip on the drive pulley.

Insufficient friction on the drive pulley:
Continuous operation wears down the pulley surface, lowering friction and increasing the risk of slippage.

Pulley diameter too small:
In some new machines, excessive wear or belt slippage may occur if the pulley diameter is undersized.

2. How to Prevent Conveyor Belt Slipping

Regular maintenance and tension adjustment:
Pay attention to belt alignment and tension. Proper tracking and tension prevent elongation-related slippage.

Replace worn parts promptly:
When the belt or components show severe wear, replace them in time to maintain stable performance.

Inspect the contact components:
Regularly check pulleys, sliders, and rollers to ensure smooth operation and consistent contact with the belt.

Choose the right belt type:
Proper belt selection is essential. A well-matched conveyor belt can greatly reduce slippage and extend service life.
