How to prevent conveyor belt damage in humid environments?

Aug 25, 2025

1. Choose the right material
Moisture-resistant materials: Choose moisture-resistant PVC conveyor belts or other corrosion-resistant synthetic materials. These materials maintain their performance in humid environments and reduce damage caused by moisture absorption.
Moisture-proof coating: Apply a moisture-proof or mildew-proof agent to the conveyor belt surface to create a protective layer that prevents moisture and mold from eroding.
2. Control humidity
Use dehumidification equipment: In humid environments, install a dehumidifier or desiccant to reduce air humidity and keep it within a suitable range for conveyor belts.
Regular drying: Dry the conveyor belt regularly to prevent long-term moisture accumulation.
3. Enhance cleaning and maintenance
Regular cleaning: Clean the conveyor belt surface regularly to remove dust, oil, and other impurities to prevent these substances from exacerbating wear in humid environments.
Inspection and repair: Regularly inspect the conveyor belt surface and promptly repair any cracks or damage to prevent further damage.
4. Optimize machine operation
Appropriate loading: Transport cargo strictly within the rated load capacity of the conveyor belt and avoid overloading. Control operating speed: Set the operating speed appropriately and minimize it to reduce the impact of friction and inertia on the conveyor belt.
5. Install protective devices
Rain shields: Install rain shields or protective covers in open air or humid environments to prevent rain from directly falling on the conveyor belt.
Drainage facilities: Install drainage facilities to ensure that moisture around the conveyor belt is drained away promptly to prevent accumulation of water.
