How to prevent premature wear of PU conveyor belts?

1. Optimize conveyor design
Matching sidewalls and guide pulleys: Improper sidewall design can easily collide with the conveyor sidewall, causing localized wear. Ensure a reasonable gap between the sidewalls and guide pulleys.
Load point buffering: Install buffer rollers or guide chutes where materials fall to reduce the impact of sharp materials on the PU belt.
2. Control operating parameters
Tension adjustment: Use a tension gauge to regularly check and maintain the belt tension within ±10% of the manufacturer's recommended value. Too loose will cause slippage, while too tight will accelerate fatigue.
Speed ​​and load matching: Avoid overspeeding or overloading. For heavy loads, it is recommended to use highly wear-resistant PU materials (such as thick coatings).
3. Regular cleaning and inspection
Remove foreign matter: After shutting down, clean oil and metal debris from the belt surface and rollers to prevent scratches on the PU layer. Inspect key areas: Focus on joints, sidewalls, and the center area (where material is concentrated) for wear, and repair or replace them promptly.
4. Use polymer rollers
Reducing friction: Polymer rollers (such as UHMWPE) can reduce friction with PU belts, preventing wear of the cover rubber caused by "hard-on-hard" friction.
Corrosion protection: In humid or corrosive environments, polymer rollers can prevent secondary damage to the belt caused by rust.
5. Standardize material loading
Layered loading: Load fine materials first as a buffer layer, then add larger materials to reduce direct impact.
Center loading: Avoid material off-center, which can cause belt deviation and unilateral wear.
