How to Properly Install and Use PU Synchronous Belts?

Nov 17, 2025

I. Installation Steps
1. Preparation
Tools: Synchronous belt, pulleys, tensioner, screwdriver, cleaning cloth, etc.
Check pulleys: Ensure the parallelism error between the two pulley axes is ≤0.5mm to avoid misalignment or tooth skipping.
2. Installation Process
Shorten the center distance: If the pulleys are movable, shorten the center distance first, then install the synchronous belt and reposition the pulleys.
Tension adjustment: Press the belt with your thumb; a 10kg pressure should result in approximately 10mm of deflection for proper tension.
Avoid forceful prying: Do not force the belt into place with a screwdriver to prevent the tensile layer from breaking.
II. Precautions for Use
1. Environmental Adaptation
Temperature range: Conventional PU synchronous belts are suitable for -30℃~80℃; high-temperature environments require a high-temperature resistant formula (such as adding carbon fiber).
Cleaning and maintenance: Regularly remove oil and dust, and avoid chemical corrosion.
2. Fault Prevention
Wear inspection: Regularly observe the tooth surface for wear. If the tooth shape is deformed or cracked, replace it immediately.
Overload protection: Avoid overloading to prevent synchronous belt breakage or pulley bearing damage.
III. Troubleshooting Common Problems
Misalignment/Tooth skipping: Adjust the pulley parallelism or add a guide flange design.
Abnormal noise: Check the tension or whether the pulley surface is worn.
