How to quickly repair a loose conveyor belt?

Apr 07, 2025

1. Adjust the tensioning device
Find the tensioning device: Conveyor belts are usually equipped with tensioning devices, such as tensioning bolts, tensioning wheels or tensioning springs.
Adjust the tensioning bolts: If the conveyor belt is too loose, turn the tensioning bolts clockwise to tighten the conveyor belt; if the conveyor belt is too tight, turn the tensioning bolts counterclockwise to loosen the conveyor belt.
Adjust the tensioning wheel: For conveyor belts equipped with tensioning wheels, adjust the tightness of the conveyor belt by moving the position of the tensioning wheel. Usually, the position of the tensioning wheel can be adjusted by adjusting bolts or slide rails.
Adjust the tensioning spring: For conveyor belts equipped with tensioning springs, change the tightness of the conveyor belt by adjusting the tension of the spring. Usually, the tension of the spring can be adjusted by adjusting bolts.
2. Use quick repair materials
Polymer rubber repair material: This material has super strong adhesion, excellent wear resistance and excellent tensile strength, which can replace traditional hot vulcanization repair and adhesive bonding tape repair methods.
Cold vulcanized glue and repair strip: For minor scratches, cold vulcanized glue can be used with belt repair strips for repair. After the repair, the conveyor belt resumes normal operation, saving a lot of replacement costs.
Repair strip: The repair strip is a new type of repair material for conveyor belts, which is used to repair conveyor belts with wear, tear, puncture and other problems. It contains a semi-vulcanized layer, has super strong adhesion to the belt, high tensile strength, fast repair, easy operation, saves time, and can be used immediately after repair.
3. Specific repair steps
Cleaning the damaged part: Clean the materials accumulated on the damaged part of the conveyor belt to expose the scratched position.
Grinding the surface: Use an angle grinder to grind the broken part of the conveyor belt and the range of 15-20mm on both sides, remove all loose materials, and expose the new rubber surface. Both sides of the conveyor belt should be polished.
Apply pretreatment agent: Clean the surface of the conveyor belt with anhydrous ethanol, and apply M20 pretreatment agent on the cleaned surface. Make sure to apply it strictly and the thinner the better, and be careful not to brush it on the reinforcement layer. When it is naturally dry until the surface is not sticky, proceed to the next step immediately.
Filling repair material: After the pretreatment agent dries, take out appropriate Fushi Blue 3333 rubber material particles and evenly spread them on the damaged part of the conveyor belt, heat them with a hot air gun, and then apply them to the damaged part with tools after the particles melt and scrape them flat.
Curing repair material: After applying to the required thickness, it takes 30 minutes for the material to cure naturally; the curing time can be shortened by heating with a hot air blower, and low heat and high air volume are used when heating. Note that open flames cannot directly contact the material, and the heating temperature must not exceed the maximum temperature that the material can withstand.
