What are the precautions for replacing PVC conveyor belts?

Jul 24, 2024

1. Choose the right model and specifications
Make sure that the new conveyor belt matches the size, load capacity, speed and other parameters of the original equipment. For example, if the width of the original conveyor belt is 1 meter, you cannot choose a width less than 1 meter when replacing it, otherwise the material may not be transported normally.
2. Quality inspection
Before installation, carefully check the quality of the new conveyor belt to see if there are defects such as damage, cracks, and deformation. For example, if the conveyor belt surface is found to have obvious scratches or unevenness, it should be replaced in time.
3. Prepare tools and equipment
Prepare the required tools in advance, such as wrenches, screwdrivers, cranes, etc., to facilitate installation operations. For example, when disassembling the old conveyor belt, a crane may be needed to lift the heavier part.
4. Safety measures
During the replacement process, ensure the safety of the operator. Turn off the power and set warning signs to prevent accidental startup of the equipment and cause casualties. For example, when performing aerial operations, wear a safety belt.
5. Clean the work area
Clean up debris, dust, etc. on and around the conveyor belt to provide a clean environment for replacement work. Otherwise, impurities may enter the contact surface between the new conveyor belt and the equipment, affecting the operation effect.
6. Correct installation sequence
Install step by step according to the installation instructions and operating procedures of the equipment. Install the rollers, idlers and other components first, and then install the conveyor belt. For example, when installing the rollers, ensure that they are in the correct position to ensure the smooth operation of the conveyor belt.
7. Adjust the tension
After installation, adjust the tension of the conveyor belt to the appropriate level. Too tight or too loose tension will affect the service life and operating performance of the conveyor belt. For example, professional tension measurement tools can be used for precise adjustment.
8. Trial run
Before officially putting it into use, conduct a trial run to check whether the conveyor belt runs smoothly, whether there is deviation, abnormal noise, etc. If any problems are found, stop the machine and adjust it in time. For example, if the conveyor belt is found to be deviated during the trial run, the position of the idlers needs to be adjusted to correct it.
9. Train operators
Train operators on the use and maintenance of the new conveyor belt so that they understand the characteristics and precautions of the new conveyor belt. For example, inform operators of the maximum load capacity of the new conveyor belt to avoid overloading.
10. Save relevant information
Save the purchase receipt, instruction manual and other relevant information of the new conveyor belt for future reference and maintenance.
