How to extend the service life of a flat conveyor belt?

Oct 08, 2025

1. Installation and Commissioning Optimization
Ensure pulley parallelism and alignment: During installation, keep the two pulley shafts parallel and the grooves in the same plane to avoid increased wear and derailment during operation.
Tension Adjustment: Regularly check and adjust the tension to prevent loosening due to permanent deformation, but avoid overtightening to prevent increased wear.
2. Environmental and Operational Management
Avoid contact with corrosive substances: Belts must not come into contact with mineral oils, acids, or alkalis. The recommended operating temperature is ≤ 60°C to prevent aging and deterioration.
Control load and speed: Overloading or high-speed operation (>2.5m/s) will accelerate wear. Operate within rated parameters.
3. Maintenance and Cleaning
Regularly remove foreign matter: Promptly remove adhering material to prevent accumulation that can cause deviation or scratches.
Check rollers and drums: Replace damaged rollers or drums to prevent belt damage due to uneven friction or seizure. 4. Material and Accessory Upgrades
Select polymer rollers: Their low friction coefficient and wear resistance reduce belt wear and extend belt life by 30%-50%.
Optimize the cleaning mechanism: Adjust the cleaning pressure to avoid excessive pressure and scratching the belt surface.
5. Replacement and Storage Standards
Replace belts in the same set simultaneously: Mixing old and new belts will result in uneven stress and accelerate damage to the new belt.
Standard Storage Conditions: Avoid direct sunlight, humidity, or high temperatures (>40°C). Store in rolls and rotate regularly.
