I. Selecting the Right Model from the Start to Avoid Inherent Aging Risks
Choose the appropriate PVC conveyor belt based on the operating conditions to reduce the probability of aging from the source:
1. For heavy-duty conveying, choose a reinforced model with greater thickness and higher tensile strength to avoid accelerated aging due to long-term overload stretching;
2. For high-temperature conditions (temperature > 60℃), choose a model with a special high-temperature resistant coating, and install a cooling device if necessary;
3. For acid, alkali, and corrosive environments, choose a custom-made model resistant to chemical corrosion to prevent material corrosion and accelerated aging;
4. For conveying sharp materials, choose a special wear-resistant and cut-resistant model, and install a cushioning protective layer to reduce surface scratches and aging.
II. Standardize Operation and Reduce Human-Induced Losses
1. Strictly control the conveyor load, prohibit overloading, and avoid long-term overloading leading to tensile aging. Ensure the material weight is within the conveyor belt's design load-bearing range.
2. Standardize feeding operations, ensuring materials are fed in the center to avoid uneven stress on one side causing misalignment and wear. Install buffer devices when conveying sharp materials to reduce direct impact scratches.
3. Avoid frequent starts and stops to reduce impact stress on the conveyor belt. Control the operating speed; appropriately reducing the operating speed can effectively reduce frictional heat generation and delay aging.
III. Strengthen Daily Maintenance and Control Aging Process in a Timely Manner
1. Regular Cleaning: After each shift, clean the conveyor belt surface to remove residual dust, oil, and material residue. Prevent debris from adhering and corroding the surface. Use soft tools for cleaning and avoid strong acid or alkali corrosive cleaning agents. Allow the belt to dry completely before use.
2. Regular Inspection and Adjustment: Inspect the belt before and after operation to promptly identify minor damage such as cracks, wear, and loose joints, preventing damage from spreading and accelerating aging. Adjust the tension to maintain a moderate level. Excessive tension will lead to overstretching and aging, while excessive looseness will cause slippage and wear. Generally, a 3-5mm indentation when pressing the middle of the belt with your finger indicates suitable tension.
3. Timely Lubrication and Maintenance: Lubricate the rollers and idler bearings weekly to ensure smooth rotation and prevent increased friction loss due to component jamming. Inspect the drive chain monthly, promptly remove rust, and lubricate to ensure stable overall equipment operation.
IV. Protect the environment and mitigate adverse environmental impacts.
1. Avoid prolonged operation of the conveyor belt in high-temperature environments. Install cooling devices when the ambient temperature exceeds 60℃. It is not recommended to use PVC conveyor belts when the temperature exceeds 80℃.
2. Regularly clean accumulated water in humid environments to prevent long-term immersion and corrosion of the belt. For outdoor use, install protective covers to prevent direct sunlight and ultraviolet radiation from accelerating aging.
3. Prohibit the conveyor belt from prolonged contact with strong acids, alkalis, oils, and other corrosive substances. If contact occurs, clean it promptly to prevent material corrosion and aging. In harsh working conditions, install protective devices to isolate the conveyor belt from adverse environmental impacts.
