What are the ways to extend the service life of conveyor belts?

Dec 09, 2024

1. Regular cleaning:
Keep the surface of the conveyor belt clean, remove adhered materials and dust in time, and avoid blockage and accumulation. You can use brushes, detergents, high-pressure water guns and other tools for cleaning, and pay special attention to avoid using highly corrosive detergents.
2. Check the tension:
Check the tension of the conveyor belt regularly to ensure that it is moderate. Too loose or too tight will affect the transmission effect and service life of the conveyor belt.
3. Check the wear:
Check the wear degree of the conveyor belt regularly, especially at the joints, edges and load-bearing areas. If problems are found, repair them in time to avoid the expansion of problems and affect normal use.
4. Check the supporting structure:
Check the wear and damage of supporting structures such as rollers, drums and bearings to ensure that they operate normally and replace damaged parts in time.
5. Lubricate and maintain the drive system:
Lubricate the drive system regularly and check whether the motor and reducer have abnormal sounds or overheating.
6. Avoid overload:
Ensure that the load of the conveyor belt is within its carrying capacity and avoid overload operation, which will accelerate the wear of the conveyor belt.
7. Control environmental factors: Prevent the conveyor belt from being exposed to moisture, high temperature or chemical corrosive environment for a long time, which may accelerate the aging and damage of the conveyor belt.
8. Check the centering and alignment: Ensure that the conveyor belt is properly centered and aligned in the conveyor system to avoid wear caused by offset.
9. Avoid external damage: Prevent the conveyor belt from being scratched by sharp tools or materials, and avoid walking or placing heavy objects on the conveyor belt.
10. Regular replacement: For conveyor belts that have been worn or damaged, they should be replaced in time to prevent further damage.
11. Record maintenance history: Record the history of all maintenance and replacement activities, which will help predict future maintenance needs and replacement cycles.
Train operators: Ensure that all operators receive appropriate training on how to properly operate and maintain the conveyor belt system.
